Skilled Visas
Each year, many people migrate to Australia to take advantage of the vast range of employment opportunities. Hansen Migration can provide assistance with temporary work visas, skilled visas, working holiday visas and permanent residence. Assistance can be provided to the visa applicant, as well as employers looking to sponsor new staff.
Skilled Independent Visa – Subclass 189
The Skilled Independent visa is for highly skilled individuals under the age of 50, who would like to relocate to Australia on a permanent basis. They must have the skills and qualifications for an occupation which is in demand, these occupations are defined on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL). Applicants don’t require sponsorship from an employer, however they must pass a points test.
Skilled Nominated Visa – Subclass 190
The Skilled Nominated visa is for highly skilled individuals under the age of 50, who would like to relocate to Australia on a permanent basis. To be eligible, the applicant must be sponsored by an Australian state or territory government. They must have the skills and qualifications for an occupation which is in demand, these occupations are defined on the Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL) and the Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). This is a good option for applicants who have the required skills but don’t meet the points test for a Skilled Independent visa.
Skilled Regional Visa – Subclass 489
Businesses in Regional Australia often face challenges in finding skilled employees. The Skilled Regional visa was introduced to help this issue by allowing skilled migrants to work in specified regional areas. It is ideal for people with good qualifications and a good understanding of the English language. Often applicants apply for this subclass of visa because they do not meet the requirements for a Skilled Independent visa. The applicant must be sponsored by a state or territory government agency, or an eligible relative who lives in a regional area. This is a temporary visa which is granted for four years. However, the holder may be eligible to apply for permanent residency once they have lived in a regional area for at least two years, and have worked in that area for at least one year.
